CBS Cancels CSI: Miami and Unforgettable

Sunday, May 13th, 2012

CBS renewed a slew of shows a two months ago and also announced the pick-up of seven new series (and the likely cancellation of A Gifted Manearlier today, but now the high-rated network has officially canceled two shows.

CSI: Miami: This CSI spin-off has been on the air for 10 years, but its ratings are slipping.  Its most recent season (which only consisted of 19 episodes) was pulling in about 8 million total viewers and a 1.7 rating in the key demo.  For any other network that might seem like stellar ratings, but for CBS it tended to be on the low-side.  In a statement, the network said “CSI: Miami leaves an amazing television legacy – a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade.  We thank all the producers – led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue — and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons.  Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of CSI: Miami in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come.”  CSI: New York’s fate hasn’t officially been announced, but sources say it could find a place on next year’s schedule.

Unforgettable: The Poppy Montgomery-led freshman drama (also starring Dylan Walsh) wasn’t a stellar performer for the network on Friday nights and hasn’t been picked up for a second season.

‘CSI: Miami’ exec nixes romance plot

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010

The producer of CSI: Miami has confirmed that the romance between Delko (Adam Rodriguez) and Calleigh (Emily Procter) is over for the foreseeable future.

Marc Dube told TV Guide that Delko’s recent deception would keep the two characters apart.

“Delko having to do things behind his colleague’s back kind of threw a wrench into the works as far as their relationships goes,” he admitted. “There’s been a bit of an agreed backing-off on both sides.”

However, Dube did not rule out an eventual reunion for the pair, revealing that their romance is “something that will be revisited”.

“Right now it’s more of a brother-sister relationship,” he suggested. “They love each other very much. Will it spike again? Probably, but they’re taking a little break from the intensity.”

Lady Gaga to Guest Star on CSI: Miami?

Saturday, September 18th, 2010

How would a meat dress hold up in South Beach?

Perhaps we’ll find out if Lady Gaga ever makes it over to CSI: Miami

“The rumor’s been that Lady Gaga wants to do the show really bad,” CSI star Eva La Rue told us at the recent Stand Up to Cancer telethon. “I don’t know if we’re going to get her or not, but it would be awesome!”

Don’t count on the singer breaking out into song while guest starring though.

“She doesn’t want to play herself from what I understand,” La Rue said. “She wants to be a character.”

Fellow CSI: Miami star Emily Procter also recently admitted to us that although the show aired a Jersey Shore-themed episode back in April, she’s still hoping for the real-life Situation to make an appearance.

“He’s so sweet and thoughtful and really works hard to do the right thing,” Procter said. “It makes me happy for him.”

Guess he’s got her vote on Dancing With the Stars.

Should Gaga do CSI? How about The Situation? Sound off in the comments.

Eddie Cibrian Axed

Monday, June 21st, 2010

Here’s some not-so-celebratory news for birthday boy Eddie Cibrian.

The actor, who turned 37 on Wednesday, has been axed from CSI: Miami, a year after he joined the cast of the hit CBS show, according to reports.

Cibrian’s contract has reportedly not been picked up and sources say original cast member Adam Rodriguez — who, like Cibrian, had a stint on Ugly Betty — is returning full-time this fall, EW.com reports. CBS declined to comment.

The good news for Cibrian? Leaving Miami-Dade means he’ll have plenty of time for other TV projects.

As his girlfriend, singer LeAnn Rimes, Tweeted Thursday, “Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together. Every story has and end, but in life every end is just a new beginning.”

Perhaps the couple should do another Lifetime movie?
