Exclusive: CSI: Miami’s Emily Procter Welcomes a Baby Girl

Friday, January 21st, 2011

Congratulations to Emily & Paul!

The CSI: Miami family has a new member! Emily Procter, who plays crime scene investigator Calleigh Duquesne, welcomed daughter Pippa in early December. It’s the first child for Procter and her boyfriend, musician Paul Bryan.

A slightly tired, but excited, Procter returned to work on January 19, just in time for co-star Adam Rodriguez’s directing debut. “I wouldn’t have missed it,” Procter told TV Guide Magazine on set. “In a way it fits that my first day back is Adam’s first time directing because I felt like he genuinely wanted me to have a healthy baby. He wanted me to be happy, and I wish the same for him. I think that’s what you get after nine years together. It’s that genuine want for each other to be happy.”

Rodriguez could not be more thrilled to welcome a new member to the gang. “We’re so happy for Emily,” he told TV Guide Magazine. “This is something I know she’s wanted for a long time. She’s got the right guy in her life and it was the right time for her, and it’s so great when you get to see somebody be able to have it all. She’s just really got it all together.”

Procter, whose pregnancy has not been incorporated into the show, will only be written out for one week. She returns to the lab in the episode slated for March 13 entitled “Hunting Ground.”

Emily Procter ‘Grateful’ to Experience Pregnancy

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

How much does Emily Procter love being pregnant?

“I started crying the other day just thinking that the baby is going to leave me soon!” says Procter about her first child — she’s keeping the sex a secret — with her boyfriend, musician Paul Bryan.

“You have this relationship with this person in your belly and it’s really amazing.”

Procter, 41, is enjoying finally feeling her baby move.

“It’s really fun at night, because I can see the baby kicking,” says Procter, who is the new face for Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula stretch mark products.

“I can feel the knee or the foot. The baby is starting to get heavy, and it’s a really incredible feeling. I’m so grateful I get to experience this.”

And how does she feel about her changing body? “There’s not a stretch mark!” says Procter, who uses Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Tummy Butter on her belly in the morning and the Skin Therapy Oil at night.

The actress, who has gained 20 lbs. so far, is keeping active walking, swimming and taking a hip hop dance class once a week.

“It’s hilarious!” she says about her dance class. “But I feel really good. I would love to tell you that I don’t worry about losing the weight after the baby is born, but I do try to think before I eat. The first cookie? Definitely! But I try to think about if I really want to do the extra sit-ups before I eat the second one.”

Procter and Bryan have already agreed on a name for the baby, due in December. “We’re naming it after one of my grandparents,” she says. And as for the nursery? Although it’s not quite ready yet, they’re keeping it gender neutral in soothing green colors.

The birth plan is also not locked in place. “It’s one of those things where I’m trying not to be nervous and see what happens,” says Procter.

“I was leaving work the other day and as I was saying goodbye to [CSI: Miami costar] Eva LaRue, she said, ‘Emily, you’re having a baby!’ And all of a sudden it hit me and yes, I got nervous! So I went home and signed up for CPR! But I try not to get stressed about it. I’m probably going to have this experience only once, so I’m just so thankful.”

‘CSI: Miami’s’ Emily Procter on Calleigh’s complicated love life

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

As fans of CBS’ Monday hit “CSI: Miami” know, CSI Calleigh Duquesne (Emily Procter) and former CSI Eric Delko (Adam Rodriguez) have consummated their long-simmering relationship. With Rodriguez returning to the show full-time next season, there should be plenty more opportunities for romance.

Procter isn’t surprised the two came together.

“We both watch TV,” she tells Zap2it. “There’s wish fulfillment in entertainment. Let’s face it, we, the humans, watch other humans being human for entertainment. It’s a big, fat zoo. Why wouldn’t you want to see love in there? I mean, it’s the most powerful thing of all.

“We were just the last two left.”
